Home Insurance
To insure your home you need two kinds of insurance policies.
- Buildings Insurance – this covers structure of the home (your bricks & mortar), as well as the fixtures and fittings.
- Contents Insurance – this covers the contents you would take with you if you were to moved homes.
If you have a mortgage
Your lender may offer buildings insurance at the time you arrange your mortgage, but you don't have to take what they offer. A mortgage lender will generally have an arrangement with only a single insurer.
The usual result is a lower premium and better cover!
